FOCUS on RESULTS
Our 2011-2012 school-wide focus is reading and math comprehension, vocabulary development, non-fiction books, and writing in response to reading.
We use balanced literacy to teach reading, writing, and word study.  Included in our balanced literacy program is Guided Reading.  We use this practice to work with small groups of children at their reading levels.  Below you will find useful information on our focus areas:

Instructional Focus

As a result of a school-wide commitment, all Lake View School students will show measurable growth in their ability to read, write, and demonstrate mathematical and reading comprehension at grade level. This will be achieved through language and vocabulary development, comprehension through reading and writing, standards-based teaching practices to be measured by DIBELS, DRA, MAP, MCAS, and school performance based assessments.
